When our community takes action together, we can make the world a more fair and inclusive place. With that in mind, we want to say a huge thank you to all those who tweeted about the proposed California law that would limit access to your earnings prior to payday. 

But our work isn’t over. Although Senate Bill 472 is being crafted with the best of intentions, a few key changes are needed to make sure consumers don’t get the short end of the stick. Here’s what you need to know:

SB 472 would:

• Restrict you from cashing out more than three times a week.
• Limit your ability to cash out more than 50% of your total income with only two exceptions every six months.

Without access to their hard-earned income, many people are left unable to pay rent, get gas, and pay bills on time. Emergencies happen, and people have a right to access the money they’ve earned when they need it.
